Full disclosure: A fan.
Pairings: F/K, K/V, F/K/V, F/V, F/OFC, K/V/OFC, Canadian Actor RPF.
Style and strengths: I came here for the (hot) Ray/Ray stories, and stayed for the rest. Justbreathe80 writes a variety of pairings, all delightfully. She finds insights into characters and relationships that feel new.

Other DS/C6D activity: Canadian Actor (CKR/HD) RPF, a few stories for Slings & Arrows and ReGenesis.

Some favourites:
A Hundred Love Letters (DS, K/V, NC-17, 8,457 words). Written for [livejournal.com profile] vecchiofest. One of my favorite K/V stories. Kowalski comes back from Canada in bad shape but not broken. He won't talk about what happened, but Fraser is "talking" through the letters he's sending Kowalski.  What makes this story for me is Vecchio, who's also reading the letters and has to reassess his own assumptions about what happened in Canada. And the epilogue makes me smile every time I read it. (And a bonus rec: The King of Danger.)

If there was a reason, it was you (DS, F/Stella, F/K, NC-17, 4,238 words). Written for the 2007 DS Seekrit Santa Challenge. While Kowalski and Vecchio's shared history with Fraser and Stella comes up a lot, fewer writers touch on Fraser and Stella's shared history with them. She uses that as the springboard for an intriguing and at times challenging story of one of the trickiest DS pairings. And her Stella characterization rocks.

The Rituals of Courtship (DS, F/K, NC-17, 4,014 words). I chose this one over the other Fraser/Kowalski stories because I love the buildup and great payoff.

25 Things Fraser Never Told Anyone (DS, Fraser/various, PG, 2,429 words). I love this combination "5 Things"/meta piece. Her insight into Fraser--his anger, his loneliness, his honesty over his own flaws and needs--is amazing.

Inch by Inch (Canadian Actor RPF, CKR/HD, NC-17, 7600 words). Written for [livejournal.com profile] rps_advent. Callum and Hugh, in a pornstar AU. Do I need to say anything more? (co-written with [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl).

Full disclosure: I have been an ardent and distant admirer since landing in fandom.
Pairings: Fraser/Kowalski, Kowalski/Gardino, Fraser/Vecchio, Fraser/Smithbauer, Frannie/Kowalski, Kowalski/Vecchio
Style and strengths: Dira is probably one of the most talented writers in any fandom. She's equally comfortable with epic, plotty stories as she is with short, emotionally intense stories. Her writing ranges from gen to smoking hot NC17. And she excels at characterization - from Dief to Fraser to RayK to RayV to Frannie - she gets them. But more, not only does she understand what motivates and moves these characters, but she also speaks with their voices, clearly and concisely. It's a rare skill and she uses it to her advantage. My only complaint about Dira is that she left due South fandom much too soon.
Other DS/C6D activity: Dira has written stories in several other C6D fandoms: ReGenesis, Wilby Wonderful, My Life As A Dog, Hard Core Logo, Flower & Garnet
Some favourites:
Hawks And Hands (F/K, F/Smithbauer, K/Gardino, NC17) - the Hockey Fic. Close to 200K words of hockey, angst and sex. This is one of my all-time favorite stories - it's extremely well written and is damn close to perfect. It makes me cry and laugh and smile and hope. And I'm someone who has never watched a hockey game in her entire life. It's also been wonderfully podficced by [livejournal.com profile] issaro (mp3 or m4b).

Exposures (F/K, R, deathfic) - a painful look at what-could-have-been, an angstful ending to the Quest.

A taste... )

The Kid (a never-to-be-finished WIP) Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 3a, plus Tea for Three and Favorite Things (F/K preslash, R) - I had read Tea for Three and had fallen in love with it, and only recently discovered (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] neu111!) that there was more. A lovely, realistic kid!fic in which we meet David Robert Fraser, yet another unexpected off-shoot of the Fraser family tree.

Full disclosure: China_shop and I were fandom newbies together and have been on each other's flists for years. We often beta for each other and I <3 her greatly, so I am in no conceivable way objective.
Pairings: Ms. Shop was a diehard Fraser/Kowalski shipper when she first started writing in dS, but later branched out to Ray/Ray and then F/K/V and most recently Fraser/Vecchio and Fraser/Vecchio/Elaine. She's written other dS pairings, too, and also writes Hard Core Logo and Canadian actor RPS.
Style and strengths: I've already copped to being far from objective about China_shop's fic -- she writes like I wish I could, building entire stories on character insights and letting conflict unfold from the interactions of the principals in each fic. But the things I admire most, I think, are her attention to detail, her ability to mess with narrative structure and the way she writes humanity into the crackiest of premises (even the one with the duck).
Other DS/C6D activity: China_shop's Canadian Actor RPS is locked at the comm [livejournal.com profile] tinhat_valley; you can join the comm to see the fic. She moderates many dS communities and challenges, including this one, and organizes an annual New Zealand con, [livejournal.com profile] get__together.
Some favourites: [Note - China_shop is incredibly prolific and incredibly good, so choosing three favourites was impossible. I chose three stand-out examples of her writing at its best, instead; on another day, I would probably have picked three different ones.]

10 Reasons to Hate Ray Kowalski by Raymond Vecchio (due South, Ray/Ray, explicit, 16,900 words). In which there is a nonlinear structure and magic realism, but also a seriously heartbreaking story about Vecchio's struggle to find his way back to himself.
"Vecchio!" he insisted, shoving me against the wall with a thud, knocking the air out of me. Maybe knocking some sense in. His eyes were dark, like he was worried. Like he cared. "You're one of the good guys, remember? Remember that?"

Leaving Normal (due South, Fraser/Kowalski, 3377 words). This is an older story, but it's still one of my fandom favourites. Ray and Fraser are both gorgeously flawed and human, here, and I love Ray's voice. And see, this combination: Ray's apartment proving what a fucking mess Ray's life is, and Fraser being a superhero whose main superpower is figuring stuff out, and Ray's body letting on how turned on he is. This combination fills Ray with a deep awful dread, so that he knows, he just knows things can not go well here.

Soft Arithmetic (due South, Fraser/Kowalski/Vecchio, explicit, 5000 words). F/K/V futurefic in which Ray and Ray take Fraser in. The first F/K/V I ever loved, and still one of my favourites.
All of a sudden, this wasn't a game anymore. Ray felt bad, having even thought of seducing Fraser like it was a sport. This was Fraser. He needed them. And it looked like maybe, just maybe, he'd finally realised that.
